We are a full service, independent moving company founded by Paul Clark. Our origins begin in Morristown back in 1954 when Paul was a door to door bread salesman. After some encouragement from a customer, Paul bought a flatbed truck and started cleaning out basements. He sold whatever was in good condition and discarded the rest. During this time, he continued to run his bread route 5 days a week.
Paul decided that he needed to expand his vision and persuaded 6 furniture companies to use him to deliver their goods to customers. He hired two men and the business began to grow. Business became so good that he left his bread truck route and started moving furniture full time.
Paul went door-to-door to houses that were for sale and he would give them a quote on moving. By 1957 the work had paid off and Paul was operating three trucks and leasing warehouse for customer storage. In August of 1957, Paul became an agent for North American Vanlines. In 1963, he had acquired a second warehouse facility. The business had grown to fourteen trucks and forty-one employees. In 1969, the state started rebuilding Route 287 through Morristown and both warehouses were demolished to make way for the new construction. At this point, he sold his moving company and moved to Hunterdon County.
However, Paul was not finished with the moving industry. In 1980, Paul established Paul's Transfer Company, which has been working in Hunterdon County and the surrounding areas ever since. In 2002, Paul's Transfer joined Wheaton World Wide Moving to gain the ability to offer more competitive domestic rates as well as adding international services.
In the fall of 2003, Steve Leap became the president and owner of Paul's Transfer Company, giving Paul a much-needed retirement. Shortly thereafter, Steve continued his post-graduate studies, while maintaining hands-on operation in the business. By 2011, Steve Leap stepped down and Andrew Wertz became the president and owner.
Paul's Transfer continues to maintain excellence in service and in ethics, standing as one of the few moving companies that operates honestly and ethically.
Paul's Transfer Company looks forward to serving the residents of Hunterdon County, Warren County, and all the surrounding areas for years to come.
